RVIB Nathaniel B. Palmer NBP 07-10
13 November 2007 - 7 December 2007

Overview

The NBP 07-10 cruise from 13 November through 7 December, 2007, marked the beginning of the cDrake field program. A transport line and a local dynamics array of 38 CPIES and 3 current meter moorings were deployed, spanning all of Drake Passage. The CPIES were calibrated with CTD measurements. In addition, velocity profiles measured by a LADCP were obtained coincident with the CTD profiles.

19 November 2008 - 13 December 2008

Overview

The NBP0812 cruise from 19 November to 13 December 2008 marked the second cruise of the cDrake field program. Data from 37 of the 38 deployed CPIES was acoustically telemeterd to the ship. CTD hydrocasts at each CPIES site were conducted and coincident velocity profiles were measured by the LADCP. The three current meter moorings were verified to be in an upright orientation. This cruise contributed additional coverage within the Drake Scotia plate to the multibeam bathymetric data set.

Overview

The NBP0908 cruise from 19 November to 19 December 2009 marked the third cruise of the cDrake field program. Data from the CPIES was acoustically telemeterd to the ship. CTD hydrocasts at each CPIES site were conducted and coincident velocity profiles were measured by the LADCP. Problem CPIES were replaced. The three current meter moorings, two on the Patagonian shelf and one off Livingston Island, were recovered. A new calibration mooring was deployed.
